Oak Run’s annual craft fair is Nov. 5 at the Palm Grove Club in the Oak Run community. Doors open at 9 a.m. and close at 1 p.m. No early shopping.

Come see art and craft creations made by our Oak Run residents. Purchase a few items on your holiday gift list.

The public is invited. Entry is allowed at the east entrance off SW 60th Ave.

The Performing Arts Company of Oak Run (PACOR) proudly presents an original musical comedy, “Mr. Potts Bites The Dust,” written and directed by Dick Caza. The music and lyrics are composed by Marci Hutto, who also serves as the musical director.

Randy Howe plays the handsome sexy handyman (Randy) who Mrs. Potts seems to be attracted to. You will want to see how Mr. Potts reacts to this flirtatious event. Chris Laforge has taken on the role of the telephone operator. She recounts a past love interest with a young Higgins. Chris also works with our technical crew as the sound effects person.

The cast has been invited to do a sneak preview of the show at the Donut Drop-In on Oct. 8, around 9:30 a.m. Tickets for the show can be purchased there.

Show dates are Oct. 21 (dinner theater), Oct. 22 (evening performance), and Oct. 23 (matinee). Tickets can also be purchased during the rehearsal at Palm Grove on Thursday, Oct. 6 (3:30-6:30 p.m.). If you cannot make it to one of these sales, call Mary Young at 631-355-5998 to arrange purchase.

Come support your friends and neighbors in this endeavor. Hope to see you there.

Our Winter-Spring Travel Brochure will be delivered during the week of Oct. 10, due to a printing delay in anticipation of hurricane Ian.

The first trip in the new brochure is to Jacksonville on Dec. 7 at the Terra Gaucha Brazilian Steakhouse and then on to Sweet Pete’s Candy Mansion.

Enjoy 15 kinds of meat, presented at your table, in addition to a hot and cold salad bar. The Candy Mansion covers 23,000 square feet over three levels, making it one of the largest candy shops in the U.S. It offers some sweet choices after the meal at Terra Gaucha. While there, you can see the building decorated for Christmas.

This trip will be sold at all three of our scheduled ticket sales on Oct. 17, Oct. 21 and Oct. 26 in the Orchid Club from 10:30 a.m. to 12 noon.

As a reminder, only Oak Run residents and their qualified guests may go on these trips.

With gusto, I continue this fundraiser in honor of Yogi Andrew Crane, who was passionate about this cause. Oak Runners have been wonderful in supporting Cates/Legacy house for many years.

For those new to Oak Run, Cates House is right across the road from the main gate and has served our community with care and compassion for a long time.

All monies collected go directly to Cates House.

For a donation of $18, you will receive an event tee shirt. Please indicate size on the bottom left corner of your check.

For $108, you may have a hand-painted stone, personalized to celebrate a loved one’s life or anniversary.

You can post-date the check to Nov. 12, however, please get it to me ASAP so you don’t forget.

Make checks to: HOSPICE OF MARION COUNTY, put in my cubby or mailed to 11538 SW 69 Circle, Ocala, FL 34476 (BTG). I will happily pick up your check if you call me at 352-854-7950.

The idea is to rotate between the tables, so someone can learn about at least two topics.
